Alta Badia
Sellaronda, via ferratas, tasty dinners: Alta Badia pampers you
Alta Badia is not only a part of the Dolomites, it is the very heart, straddling as it does Val Gardena and Cortina D'Ampezzo. Winter sports lovers only need to hear the term Sellaronda to imagine themselves catapulted onto fantastic ski slopes, always different, around the Sella massif. But wonderful snowshoeing or refreshing cross-country skiing facilities also await you.
In summer, enjoy a constantly expanding network of trails. Via ferrata enthusiasts can try out the brand new Les Cordes, a direct route to Gardenaccia, which stretches along an intrepid trail once used to lead cows to the high pastures. Those who prefer less daring excursions will find idyllic lakes, like that of Sompunt, or waterfalls perfect for a picnic, just below the Piasciadù massif. And cosy mountain lodges, real gourmet inns, where visitors can enjoy the very best of Ladin tradition. Not to mention the classic climbs to the panoramic peaks. Walls and pinnacles such as Sasso Croce or Sassongher, which crown the valley, from where to take incredible picture-postcard photos.
Boots, of course, but also pedals. A holiday in Alta Badia is perfect for cyclists, whether along the routes of the Giro d'Italia or through the woods by mountain bike. And how about trying the Movimënt parks of Piz La Ila and Piz Sorega? Real open-air gyms, where, surrounded by majestic views, adults and children alike can put themselves to the test.
